Opus Art Supplies

Opus Art Supplies and Emily Carr formed a symbiotic relationship when they became Granville Island neighbours over 30 years ago. In 1994, the relationship was formalized when Opus President, David van Berckel, signed an agreement with Emily Carr for Opus to become our “official” art supply store.

But Opus is so much more than Emily Carr’s art supply store – they are a partner in the truest sense. For almost 20 years, Opus has funded initiatives such as Emily Carr’s 70th Anniversary Lecture Series and the Grad Show (now “The Show”), donated countless art supplies and frames for Emily Carr events, provided student discounts, and recently became Full Circle membership partners.
It was in 2006 that Opus’ commitment to Emily Carr students intensified. The Opus Bursary endowed fund was established to remove financial barriers and help students amplify their knowledge and transform themselves into successful creators of the big ideas that will define our world to come. Opus has contributed annually to the bursary, and in 2012, pledged $40,000 over the next five years.
Opus Art Supplies began as a small picture frame manufacturer over 35 years ago, designing its own frames and stocking framing supplies oriented towards the professional arts community. They offer sustainable products, proudly support their community, and operate an online store, a mail order service and six stores in British Columbia.
