Partnership Opportunities

Research + Industry Office

Launched in summer 2006, Emily Carr’s Research and Industry Office (RIO) is focused on expanding research innovation, building industry alliances, and customizing internships for Masters students.

The RIO is also designed to help graduate students and faculty identify innovative research projects and global collaborations, strengthen grant submissions, and source research team members.

A key focus for the RIO is repositioning Emily Carr in the eyes of the community and internationally, in particular showcasing the changing role of the applied arts and today’s technically sophisticated creators. Emily Carr will continue to open its doors to national industry-based events and to bring leading professional talent to campus for knowledge exchange.

Companies are seeking world-class talent in visual arts, media arts and design. Through our powerful network of corporate and non-profit alliances, Emily Carr is well positioned to craft collaborative industry-academic projects with lasting impact in the arts and technology. The Research and Industry Office also places students in the best internships available in the applied arts and assists human resource departments in identifying the best students and recent graduates for exciting new jobs.

Career + Co-op Office

Co-operative education integrates classroom learning with periods of paid work experience to enable students to apply their knowledge and skill. Co-op students receive credits toward their degree for successfully completed work terms.

Co-op students can assist an employer’s short- or long-term needs by undertaking specific projects, or by providing general assistance to ease workload pressures on full-time employees. A wide range of employers, including large and small businesses, non-profit organizations and the public sector, hire co-op students. Through Emily Carr, employers have access to bright and talented art, design, and media students. As well, the experience allows an organization to recruit, train, and assess potential future employees.

Our students work at organizations like Facebook, Ikea, lululemon, Vancouver Art Gallery, Fluevog, Mountain Equipment Co-op.

Internships

Co-operative education is available to third and fourth year undergraduate students. Co-op placements can be part-time in summer, spring, and fall semesters. To post a co-op opportunity go to:Artswork Submission Guidelines
