DONATE NOWIn May, real estate developer Reliance Properties announced a $7-million donation, which publicly launched Emily Carr University’s capital campaign, THE BIG IDEA. The gift represents the largest financial donation ever given to Emily Carr University and will help build the Libby Leshgold Gallery and the Reliance Lecture Theatre at Emily Carr’s new campus at Great Northern Way. This contribution set a new standard for philanthropy, as it is the largest gift ever given to an arts-only University in Canada. Read more →
In May, Emily Carr University announced the launch of Alumni Association Chapters in Toronto, New York and San Francisco. As artists, designers, media practitioners and entrepreneurs, Emily Carr alumni play an integral role in the creative economy. Our goal is to build a community that spans the globe and gives our alumni the opportunity to reconnect, share experiences and support each other. Read more →
In April, student Chenny Xia (’14) was announced as part of The Next36. Along with 35 other finalists, Chenny was chosen from 1000 enterprising young applicants to participate in an entrepreneurship-immersion program. Chenny was the only designer her cohort. Her selection marks the first time a specialized art and design school has been represented in this program. Read more →
In January 2014, alumna Corin Sworn (’02) was announced as the winner of the bi-annual Max Mara Art Prize for Women, run in collaboration with Whitechapel Gallery. The prize included a six-month, fully-funded residency in Italy, followed by two major solo exhibtions at the Whitechapel Gallery in London and the Collezione Maramotti near Milan. Read more →

In January 2014, Dr. Ron Burnett was made a Member of the Order of Canada for his leadership in arts education, notably as president of Emily Carr University.
With his vision and commitment, the Emily Carr community has achieved significant milestones over nearly two decades, becoming the prestigious, world-recognized center of art and design innovation it is today, noted for: a values-driven culture; interdisciplinary balance between fine art, interactive media and communication design; and a strong focus on research, partnership and innovation.
