Thank you Reliance Properties
On May 2nd, 2014, Reliance Properties announced a transformational gift of 7 million dollars in support of The Big Idea Capital Campaign. This remarkable gift is the largest of its kind to Emily Carr University of Art + Design, and marks an auspicious beginning to the university’s campaign in support of a new campus at Great Northern Way.
In recognition of this phenomenal pledge of support, the new Emily Carr campus will be home to the Reliance Lecture Theatre and the Libby Leshgold Gallery.
The theatre and the gallery are central to the campus design, and will be focal points for community engagement. They will provide spaces in which visitors to the university can interact with the students, faculty, alumni, visiting artists and many others who contribute to the vibrant and dynamic university population. In these spaces, visitors and community members will come together for exhibitions, events, and programs that enrich our academic curricula and enhance the cultural conversation of our city.
This gift from Reliance Properties represents an exceptional level of involvement in the future of Emily Carr University, and sets a new standard for philanthropy in Canada.
We are thrilled to be working with Reliance Properties as we envision how the Reliance Lecture Theatre and the Libby Leshgold Gallery can be a factor in the creation of a new cultural and academic centre at Great Northern Way. Once again, on behalf of the entire Emily Carr community, thank you to Reliance Properties for this extraordinary contribution to the future of art, design and media education in British Columbia.
