Charles H. Scott and READ Books Join Satellite Gallery
We are extremely pleased to announce that the University’s Charles H. Scott Gallery and READ Books are partners in Satellite Gallery, an experimental exhibition space in downtown Vancouver.
Satellite Gallery is a project of the Michael O’Brian Family Foundation and is shared between the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery (UBC), the Museum of Anthropology (UBC), Presentation House Gallery, and now the Charles H. Scott Gallery and READ Books!
To mark the beginning of this new collaboration, READ Books will present a short lecture by Arnaud Desjardin and the launch of his The Book on Books on Artists’ Books (BoBoAB), published in London (UK) by The Everyday Press.
BoBoAB is a bibliography of books, pamphlets and catalogues on artists’ books. It takes stock of a wide variety of publications on artists’ books since the early 1970s to draw attention to the kind of documentary trace of distribution, circulation and reception they represent.
Arnaud Desjardin is French artist, curator and publisher currently based in London. He describes his ongoing publication project The Everyday Press as a ‘channel for collaborations with artists, curators, writers and academics to produce acts of publication to be considered as art works’. Desjardin is the 2013 ABRRR (Artist Book Research Residency) artist in residence at the Emily Carr University Library and READ Books.
