International Students

All incoming international students are automatically enrolled in a temporary private health insurance plan called StudentGuard. Please note that StudentGuard covers emergency care only (no coverage for pre-existing conditions.) Learn more at www.guard.me

StudentGuard will provide emergency coverage for you during the 3-month waiting period for the British Columbia Medical Services Plan (MSP) that is offered by the provincial government.

Student Services will help all students enrol in the government health plan upon arrival to Vancouver.  www.health.gov.bc.ca/insurance

Out-of-Province Domestic Students

Canadian students arriving from provinces other than British Columbia are required to maintain their current out-of-province coverage to cover the 3-month waiting period for British Columbia Medical Services Plan (MSP).

Student Services will help all students enrol in the government health plan upon arrival to Vancouver.  www.health.gov.bc.ca/insurance

The Emily Carr Students’ Union also provides Emily Carr students with a mandatory program that includes benefits such as dental and vision care, prescription drugs, travel insurance, and a number of other valuable services that are not covered under the government health insurance plan. www.ecuad.ca/studentservices/union
